Women’s Ministry

Sherman United Methodist Women

The women’s ministry at Sherman encourages women to love God by  serving in the community, participating in Bible studies, being involved in the life of the church, and helping  women, children and youth  in their spiritual growth and equipping them to assume leadership roles. We support our college students, our missionary in Liberia, Helen Roberts-Evans, and locally Sarah’s Circle and  Good News Partners.

United Methodist Women Issues: Economic inequality; Climate justice; Criminalization of communities of color and Maternal and Child Health.

We support the UMW Reading Program.

UMW Local, District and National Activities

The 2020-2021 Program Book, Knitted Together for God’s Good Work explores how we as children of God are joined and linked together into the whole body of Christ. Even at times when social distancing or other obstacles may keep us physically apart, we are knit together in community to transform the world.

Let’s open our ears, eyes and hearts to hear new voices as we members of United Methodist Women grow in our understanding and commitment to participate in the global ministries of the church. Our community of women will be graced by our guest speaker Reverend Danira Parra.  She is of Native American, Mexican and Spanish descent and is pastor of Dayspring Native American UMC in East Peoria, Illinois. Proverbs 18:15 and 20:12 will be explored through Rev. Parra’s experienced eyes as she leads us in our journey as United Methodist Women!
In this Zoom meeting we will attend to the important business of NIC UMW and we need everyone to vote and engage in this 1 1/2 hours that will be filled with inspiring music, thoughtful leadership and listening that will lead us to action on behalf of women, children and youth.
