SUMC’s ministries include:
Our legacy began in 1922 with a call to fill a need for a spiritual home. In response Mrs. Lula B. Sherman opened up her home and a founding group began to build a ministry of welcoming in. No person who enters our doors is ever just a body in a pew.
Motto: “As a sacred ministry of helping, the SUMC Welcoming Ministry is called to humbly serve as forerunners who prepare the church for worship, serve as greeters, guards, ushers, doorkeepers, and who work as a cohesive team, demonstrating hospitality and helping to provide a welcoming, comfortable and safe environment for all worshipers.”
We support Sarah’s Circle, a refuge for women who are homeless or in need of a safe space.
We host the Soup Kitchen at St. Paul Lutheran 3 to 4 times a year.
SUMC participates in the yearly CROP Hunger Walk
